The Night Santa Lost His Hand
When all the world was fast asleep,
Right early Christmas morning,
Saint Nick came in through our front door,
In his birthday nothin'!
Oh sure, he had his jolly grin,
And his big ol' bag of gifts,
But circumstances factored in-
They really hardly counted!
And so he puffed around our tree,
Setting down his bag
Untill he turned to look at me,
Who'd quietly snuck in.
"Santa Claus!" I said aghast,
"Where are all your robes?
Don't you know its way too cold
To go without your clothes?"
He said nothing as he finished up,
A darker shade of red,
And I said nothing further cuz
I was supposed to be in bed.

A family bids this elder farewell,
As tears drip from their eyes.
Though this life has passed away,
As many lives have before
This family smiles with heartfelt pride
As this spirit again goes home.
In this realm of eternal knowledge,
In the cradle of this life,
This spirit reflects on what it learned
Of love, of victory, of strife.
Form stripped from it's being,
Singularity parts from the soul,
This life waits in limbo,
Ever in a timeless hold.
